Vein Gogh

What is Vein Gogh?

A treatment that reduces the appearance of facial thread veins (red, spider or broken), telangictasia, psoriasis and rosacea using high frequency waves to heat the problem vessels, causing them to diminish instantly.

How does Vein Gogh work?

Vein Gogh treatment utilizes the principle of thermo-coagulation, which is based on a high frequency wave – a microwave – heating up the thread vein without affecting the outer layers of the skin.  This is accomplished by inserting a needle into the skin alongside the thread vein.  High frequency microwave energy is passed down to the needle to heat the vein.  This heat destroys the vein, allowing the body to reabsorb it over a period of time.  The needle is ultra-fine, allowing the precision application of the treatment.  It  is also insulated to protect the skin and the surrounding tissue when the microwave energy is applied.

What is the treatment like?

You will feel quick “pin pricks” as the small needle is inserted slightly into the outermost layer of the skin briefly.  The procedure is relatively painless and requires no bandages or special treatment.  A Vein Gogh session usually lasts 15-30 minutes, depending on the size and number of veins being treated.

What should I expect after treatment?

Following the treatment, the area will look pink.  This will diminish over the following 1-2 days.  Small scabs will form, and will usually heal quickly.

What results should I expect?

After undergoing a Vein Gogh treatment, thread veins will appear fainter or, in some cases, disappear.  The results are generally permanent, though it will not stop new thread veins appearing in the treated area in the future.

What areas can be treated?

Thread veins can appear on any part of the body, but are commonly seen on the cheeks, nose and chin.  Thread veins vary in type, size and color, ranging from fine red to purple or deeper blue veins.

How many treatments will I need?

Most favorable results occur after around 1-3 treatments, and up to 6 treatments for rosacea.

What aftercare do I need?

It is important to follow your practitioner’s instructions.  You may be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them.  These will minimize your risk of inflammation or redness and ensure the shortest healing time.  You will be sensitive to ultra-violet light and you must avoid direct sun exposure until completely healed.  Fully cover your skin or use a good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors.
