Tucked Away: Getting Lifted in Private
From Beauty Watch
For sneaking out under cover, the uniform of choice is a huge scarf (the size of a pareo) draped around the head, across the neck and tied at the back of the head, with the obligatory oversized jet black sunglasses, slightly wide at the temples for added coverage. (Very Tallulah B. dahling...) If you are planning to stay with a girlfriend, better shop for a chic house gift because it is a lot to ask. You look awful, feel weak, and may ooze all over her Pratesi linens. A daughter would be preferable, a daughter-in-law is pushing it. If you are looking for a hotel hideaway, think service and discreet. The more trendy, the more likely you will be to run into someone you know. In New York, Lyden Gardens across from the Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital is a popular haunt after surgery, along with The Surrey and The Mark. One patient told me that her plastic surgeon puts his patients at the Wales Hotel around the corner from his office, and makes visits to their rooms the morning after surgery! The Peninsula and The Century Plaza in Beverly Hills can oblige you. Although spas sound like a good plan, after surgery you won't be able to lavish in saunas and steamrooms, so save it for when you can really indulge. Your postop course should be directed by your plastic surgeon, and in most cases, you are restricted from flying for 10 days after a facelift or other major procedure.
