Eyelid Surgery in South Florida

Your eyes tell the story of your life, but that story may seem like ancient history if age or hereditary traits give your eyes a tired or unhappy appearance. Genetics, time, and sun damage can all cause the delicate tissues around the eyes to thin and sag, changing the look of your entire face. Blepharoplasty, or cosmetic eyelid surgery by South Florida plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Cooper can restore a significantly more rested, alert look to your eyes.

Eyelid surgery procedures are designed to revive and brighten the look of your face by eliminating the fatty pockets or loose eyelid tissues that give your eyes a wrinkled, tired appearance. Because each person’s face is unique, Dr. Cooper will meet with you personally to determine the most appropriate techniques to ensure a smoother, natural final result without changing the shape of your eyes.

Is This Procedure Right for Me?

Eyelid surgery in South Florida is most effective for women and men whose eyes look noticeably tired and old, and who would like to:

  • Smooth out deep wrinkles and creases that appear above or below the eyes when the face is smiling or at rest, as well as hooding.
  • Correct sagging patches of fat or skin that can obscure the lash line or create “bags” below the eyes.
  • Improve appearance with minimal discomfort.
  • Reverse the appearance of “sad” eyes that do not reflect their true emotions
  • Improve the apparent alertness and energy of the face as a whole

Hooding also can result from the cascade effect of sagging brows, so Dr. Cooper also offers eyelid-rejuvenation approaches that improve the look of the eyelids through brow lift or BOTOX® in South Florida. If you are not sure which approach would most effectively address your concerns about your eyes, Dr. Cooper will be happy to provide a professional recommendation during your consultation.

Your South Florida Blepharoplasty Procedure

Dr. Cooper understands that having cosmetic surgery near such a delicate area can be a little scary, so he utilizes safe, conservative approaches and highly precise techniques so that your results look natural and appropriate for your face without changing the shape of your eyes. Dr. Cooper is also highly skilled at performing combination enhancements that incorporate eyelid surgery with other South Florida cosmetic surgery procedures, so he will adjust your surgical plan in an effort to generate the most natural and pleasing surgical result.

A variety of options are available for your procedure. Dr. Cooper typically begins upper eyelid surgery with an incision hidden in the natural crease of the eyelid. Using small surgical instruments he will gently remove the excess skin and fat before closing the incision with very fine sutures along the natural lid crease. Blepharoplasty for the lower lids is performed similarly, though in many cases Dr. Cooper can approach the fatty tissues from the inside of the lid and may tighten the skin using laser resurfacing, eliminating a need for an incision on the skin.

Eyelid Surgery Recovery

While some patients will choose to recover at home, many of Dr. Cooper’s patients prefer the comfort, pampering and peace of mind that his caring Pavilion Resort staff provides. This allows patients to relax under the care of experienced professionals.

Eyelid surgery is generally characterized by a minimal amount of discomfort, even when incorporating laser resurfacing. You should be back to moderate activities within a few days, though you may prefer to avoid more strenuous activities for 2-3 weeks in order to allow your tissues to heal fully. Back to Top
